How many times have you seen a dress or a shirt in a magazine that you HAVE to have? You track down where you can buy it, get in the car, drive to the store, try it on, and it’s not what you expected or wanted at all. The cut is wrong or the color is off or fabric is itchy. Whatever it is, it just doesn’t work for you. And there’s that sense of disappointment. But when you take a step back, you see the flaws in the item.
And then you start to remember that at your core, there is no one else exactly like you on this earth. Sure, you may share DNA with some people and characteristics or personality traits with others, but you are a unique and entirely individualized person — seeing something on someone else will never look the exact same on you. So, why, then, do most diet plans come in a one-size fits all package?
They shouldn’t. Obesity is caused by complex imbalances within a patient’s body and that patient’s environment. It’s caused by things that are happening in your body, not someone else’s. You may share some of the exacerbations or similar bodily imbalances, but your exact body makeup is not the same as another person’s. Which is why your answer to obesity should be based on your body. Your weight-loss journey should be a personalized one, one that works with your body and your lifestyle. I know from experience that the wrong obesity treatment can just cause disappointment and discouragement. It’s why I want to make sure that the underlying conditions are discovered, so we can put together a weight loss plan that best treats your body and its conditions.
