Many times the cause is unknown. In my 45 plus years of clinical experience I have discovered that the cause is multi-factorial.

- The food you eat, particularly sugar and carbohydrates
- Stress either related to personal or interpersonal
- Electronics: TV, cellphone, lap top
- Late supper or late snacks
- Adverse reaction from prescription medications, the 4th leading cause of death
- Bedroom not dark enough
- Unrecognized glandular malfunction, particularly the pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, hormonal axis disruption
Your insomnia may make you:
- Tired and lacking in energy
- have difficulty focusing and remembering things
- experience hot flashes
- have a hard time losing weight
- moody, anxious or depressed
- to have decreased muscle strength and increased joint pain
- have reduced sexual desire or performance
